The Reason for Erosion of LRF

The erosion morphology of the residual bricks after use in different parts of the ladle molten pool area, and the following conclusions are drawn: the metallurgical operation process of the ladle is the main reason for the rapid local melting loss of the LF refining ladle, and the slag pouring surface is covered by the steel slag, forming a relatively dense The reaction layer of the slag can prevent the further erosion of air and slag, and can also improve the erosion resistance of the ladle brick. The local abnormal erosion of the refractory material on the non-slag surface is mainly because the reaction layer between the ladle brick and the slag is not dense and the structure is loose.

In the next round of smelting process, it is more likely to be damaged by molten steel scouring. Along with the cyclic process of metallurgical refining operation, the alternating process of erosion-oxidation-erosion/scouring cycle is the main mechanism for the damage of carbon-containing furnace lining. Based on the above analysis, the following conclusions are drawn:

1.Improve the compactness of the non-slag surface refractory, and increase the compactness of the reaction layer between the ladle brick and the slag.

2.Enhance the high temperature flexural strength of refractory materials and improve the erosion resistance of ladle bricks.

3.Improve the oxidation resistance of non-slag surface refractory materials and reduce the degree of oxidation during metallurgical operations.
